Janda Baik, Pahang

Janda Baik is a very beautiful Malay village located not far away from Genting Highland. I simply love this village because it is so near to KL town but yet a very good place to relax our mind and keep us away from the noisy and hectic lifestyle of KL town.

In 2010, I have visited a few of the resorts in the Janda Baik Village and each one of it has its own unique “story and scenery” to be offer to each of its guest.

This resort is suitable for team-building activities but lack of beautiful scenery






Cherengin Hills Convention & Spa Resort
The resort is new and beautiful but too commercial for those who look for “kampong” lifestyle like myself



Centella Asiatica
They offer chalets and camping facilities. A lot of people went there for fishing.









Al-Sakinah Eco Resort
They offer river lodges, suites and villa. I simply love the environment there – relaxing and full of beautiful scenery.















Wadi Samrah

They offer villa and banglo. There are also fruit trees surrounding this area and during fruit season, guest can enjoy the fruit here for free.

Lunch at Hung Kee Restaurant, Taman Shamelin

I tried out the Wantan Mee with Roasted Duck at Hung Kee restaurant last Saturday after my business appointment around Taman Shamelin.

I like to roasted duck meat as its taste almost the same as my favourite Sze Ngan Chye roasted duck in Petaling. The mee texture is just nice but I do not like the wantan and its soup as they put too much pepper in it.

All that cost me RM6.00 which I think the price is reasonable as roasted duck usually a bit costly.

Jungle Walking at Wawasan 5, Pusat Bandar Puchong

Direction:
If you are coming from Sunway toll or Kinrara or Bukit Jalil, you would notice IOI Mall on your right hand side. Keep to your left after IOI Mall. Look for signboard Taman Wawasan, when you saw Mobil petrol station on your left. Continue to keep left. You would notice EON Bank on your left after Mobil. When you see a big signboard Pusat Bandar Puchong, turn left after the signboard. You will see Bomba station on your left. Go straight till you reach the first traffic light. Then right after the traffic light. You are on the right way if you found a very big field on your left. Go straight till you notice Speedmart 99 on your left and then you must turn left. Yes, you have reached your destination as show in my picture as below.

The highest peak that we are allows to climb is 140m (We measure the height of our climb using Casio Watch Model 3173). Many trails have been blocked and I do not know why. We never able to reach the waterfall as mentioned in jungletrekkinginpuchong.blogspot.com. The trail to the waterfall has been blocked, perhaps!

The watch shows that we have climb 65m from the starting point (first photo).







The photo below shows the peak ie 140m from starting point. We have done it in about 40 to 45 minutes.

The trail can be very slippery after raining day, so it is advisable to bring along a walking stick if you are “new” in jungle trekking like myself.

A Day Trip to Tanjung Sepat

Tanjung Sepat is a fishing village located at Kuala Langat.

Our trip from Puchong to Tanjung Sepat took more than an hour.

Our first stop is at Ganofarm mushroom farm and its homestay.






We have lunch at Ocen Restaurant located near Lover’s Bridge










The famous Pau Shop and local Coffee Shop












Our last stop at Fish Ball Shop / Factory located near Tanjung Sepat market.

The Most Expensive Parking Fee in a Shopping Mall

The above photo was taken at the parking payment machine located at Premier Park Lot at Empire Shopping Gallery, Subang Jaya, Malaysia.

My friend parked there for approximately 5 hours and they charged her RM599.00. Isn’t it the most parking fee even being charged for just parking in a shopping mall?

How can this happen?

The story goes like that. Apparently when Empire Shopping Gallery was open for business in April 2010, it offers free parking till end of June 2010. My friend has initially taken the parking ticket during the free parking period. Since the parking “palang” was lifted up during the time she exited the parking, she totally forgotten that she has taken a parking ticket.

Today, we went there again for dinner. While searching for the parking ticket to pay, she took the wrong ticket (you know lah, the one which she took many months again). When machine ask her to park RM599, she has a shock of her life. Then I asked her whether she has put in the right ticket, she suddenly remember that today parking ticket is actually still in her purse. What a joke!!!!

The conclusion is that the parking in Empire Shopping Mall is calculated on hourly basis. So do not try to leave your car there for a time more than necessary unless you want to break current record of RM599.

Declaration of Dividend in Unit Trust Investment Does Not Increase the Overall Value of your Investment Immediately

Many people misunderstood this concept. The worst still is that unit trust consultant or agent who is the one who give wrong information to his/her client.

It is totally agreeable that if a public listed company declared its dividend, those who buy their share will benefit from their distribution but the same concept does not apply to unit trust investment.

For example, if you own a trust trust with current unitholding of 1000 units and current value of RM1 per unit. Then it declare dividend of RM0.10 per unit. So you would get RM100 dividend. After the dividend has been declared, the price of your unit will drop to RM0.90 (RM1.00 – RM0.10) because you have took RM100 of so called dividend.

On top of that, a dividend declaration would subject to company taxation of 25% to 26%.

Let me give you a real life example.

Mr. A has bought CIMB-Principal Equity Fund on 8/2/2010 at price of RM1.2346. After taking account of service charge or 3% of NAV price, the total unit that he got is 14154.97. The illustration as below

Date of Purchase: 8/2/2010
Amount: RM18000
Price before Service Charge: 1.2346
Price after Service Charge of 3%: 1.271638
Total Unitholding: 14,154.97

The fund declared its dividend of gross 6.5 cents per units on 4/6/2010

After deducting the Malaysia taxation, the nett dividend of the fund is 5.64162 cents per units.

That mean, Mr. A get a dividend of RM798.57 and it was reinvested at price of RM1.2487. Thereby the unit that Mr. A gets is 639.52 units (RM798.57 ÷ 1.2487).

Below list down the unitholding and NAV before and after the dividend declaration:

Before Dividend
Unitholding: 14,154.97
NAV Price: RM1.3051
Total Value: RM18,473.65

After Dividend
Unitholding: 14,794.49
NAV Price: RM1.2487
Total Value: RM18473.65


Let me explain it in a layman term using the example of a cake:

A cake weight 10kg worth RM1000.00. That’s mean 1kg is RM100.
If I sell off a kg of the cake, the remaining cake now worth RM900.00.
If I would like to cut it into 10 pieces again, each piece only worth RM90.

5-Element Vegetable Soup (The Soup that Cures Cancer)

A friend has helped me to translate this from a Chinese book. This vegetable soup is believed to be able to cure cancer. Since all the ingredients are vegetable, it is really worth trying it out.

Ingredients

White Carrot – 1 kati (600 gm)
White Carrot Leaves – ½ kati (300 gm)
Red Carrot – ½ kati (300 gm)
Burdock – 4 tahil (152 gm)
Mushroom – 10 gm

Cooking Methods

1) After washing the carrots, cut them into big pieces with the skin attached.
2) Use aluminum or glassware utensil to boil the soup
3) Add water 3 times the volume of the vegetable. Use big fire to get it boils. Then only reduce it to small fire and cook it for an hour. During cooking, DO NOT OPEN the cover of pot!
4) The soup is ready for consumption after an hour cooking time

Other Notes:

1) Drink this soup 3 times a day – morning, afternoon and night. Each time drink 200ml, total of 600 ml per day. Please drink ½ an hour before meal. Soup is ok to drink either hot or cold.
2) Keep the soup in the fridge if it is no being consume in 4 hours times.
3) Please do not drink the soup if it looks “muddy” or taste sour.
4) The soup residue can be put inside potted plant and it would make the plant becoming very fresh again.
5) Buy mushroom which is dried by the sun or if you buy the mushroom from the market, put them to dry under the sun for a while to increase the Vitamin D
6) Please follow the prescription’s proportion of each of the ingredients for optimum results.
