My Point of View on the Movie: UP
I would like to thank thestaronline and Golden Screen Cinema for giving me the opportunity to watch the 3D preview of the movie “UP” on Sunday morning Aug 16, 2009 for free of charge.
It is ideally a well-made good movie worth watching and I recommend that you bring the whole family to watch it. It will be official released in Malaysia on Aug 20, 2009.
Before the movie starts, Pixar as usual will show us a short funny story. This time it is regarding clouds making babies of all kind using their molding and magic power. All the clouds make perfect babies except for this one cloud whose is always tend to make aggressive and not-so-friendly babies.
The opening sequence of Up tells the story of Carl and Ellie is so heart-warming and so overfilled with emotion. Both of them share the same dream of travelling to the Lost Land of South America but Ellie never able to realize her dream when she pass away at age 70. You see, they tried to save money for their expedition but their money were never enough and never grow because they are saving it in the jar and not investing it to earn interest or dividend. And secondly many unforeseen events happen such as money used to service car breakdown and repair damaged house.
When things got out of his control and he is forced to leave his house to stay in retirement home, Carl decided to embark on this high-altitude adventure to fly-off his house with thousand of balloons. He was shock to discover the little Russell knocking at his door after he has flew off and together (they also do not know how) they did end up in the Lost Land of South America.
Their adventure was become more challenging after they got to know Kevin, the rare bird and Dug, the talking dog. In fact, all the dogs in this movie know how to talk. There is this evil villain called Charles who wanted to capture Kevin so that he can become the greatest adventurer in the world again.
One thing that I don’t understand is why Carl and Charles are the almost same age when they met in the Lost Land. The first time Carl get to know Charles, Carl is still a small kid while Charles is an adult of age in late 20 or early 30. Maybe the Lost Land has the magic to preserve the youth of a person but the movie does not mention it. Or did I miss out anything?
If this is the first time, you watch 3D movie, be prepare that you may feel a bit giddy wearing the 3D glasses. I got my headache after the movie but just for a short while only. Maybe my brain got a bit confused and need a bit of time to adjust to it.
For more information on UP, you may find it at their official website - http://disney.go.com/disneypictures/up/
The morale of the story (to my definition) are:
a) Better late than never (Carl finally realized his dream at the age 78)
b) Save and Invest money to make it grow (don’t put in the jar)
c) Life is full of Adventure (whether you like it or not), so as well enjoy it
d) If you believe that you can, then YOU CAN
Happy Reading!
